What Cambria Bus Buddy does

Cambria Bus Buddy helps Cambria Community Bus drivers load the day's schedule from a Word document, resolve rider and destination details, manage pickups and dropoffs during a drive, and produce a shareable post-drive summary with boardings and mileage.

Common questions

How do I load a schedule?

Share the schedule .doc file into the app — for example from Mail or the Files app using the share sheet — or use the app's file picker. The app walks you through confirming riders, destinations, and pickup times before the drive is saved. .docx files are not supported yet; use the .doc version of the schedule. See the step-by-step walkthrough for screenshots of each step.

Why does the app ask for location access?

Location is optional and used only while the app is in use during an active drive, to show an advisory estimate of the drive time to your next stop. If you decline, everything else works normally — you just won't see drive-time hints.

Where is my data stored?

Drives, rider records, and saved destinations are stored on your device. If you chose iCloud sync at first launch, they also sync across your devices through your private iCloud account. Nothing is sent to us. See the privacy policy for details.

Do I need to enable iCloud sync?

No. iCloud sync exists for one reason: to share your drives and rider records between multiple devices, such as an iPad used for schedule loading and an iPhone used on the road. If you use the app on a single device, there is no benefit to enabling it — the app works fully with local-only storage, which is the default.

Can I change my iCloud sync choice later?

In the current release, the iCloud choice made at first launch is fixed. Settings shows the current choice, and the only way to choose again is Settings > Clear All Data, which deletes all app data and restarts first-run setup.

What is the Live Activity?

When enabled in Settings, an in-progress drive shows the current stop on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can glance at the next pickup or dropoff without unlocking the phone. It ends when you end the drive.

What do the Drive Time Hint refresh modes mean?

Battery Saver, Balanced, and More Frequent trade estimate freshness against battery use. The hint is advisory — it helps you judge when to head to the next stop, and it disappears rather than showing a stale or misleading number.

How do I fix a rider's details or a wrong destination?

Outside of a drive, open the rider list to edit a rider's name, alternate names, phone number, home address, and notes. Saved destination mappings can be viewed and deleted; a deleted mapping is re-checked and re-confirmed on the next schedule load.

How do I share the post-drive summary?

After ending a drive, the summary can be shared through the iOS share sheet as text, suitable for pasting into Notes or a message.

How do I remove my data?

Delete individual drives, riders, or destination mappings in the app, or use Settings > Clear All Data to erase everything — including synced iCloud data if sync is enabled — and start fresh.
